Workshops and Ad-hoc sessions

Pre-meeting Workshops

Rooms are available on Tuesday, March 17 for pre-meeting workshops. Those wishing to convene a pre-meeting workshop should contact mahoney@genetics-gsa.org by November 4, 2025 with the title and the number of people expected to attend. In the past, workshops have been offered on Aspergillus, Basal Fungal Kingdom, Dothideomycetes Genetics, Fusarium and Magnaporthe.

The information will be sent to the scientific organizers for final approval before being added to the schedule.Pre-meeting workshop organizers are responsible for coordinating all aspects of the program, including speaker presentations. The final program information must be received by January 6, 2026 to be included on the website and in the Program Book.

A registration fee will be charged for the pre-meeting workshops. The fee includes room rental, audio-visual equipment, coffee breaks and abstract collection. Lunch is not included in the fee.

Ad Hoc Sessions During Afternoon Breaks

Time is available from 12:30–1:45 p.m. on Thursday and Friday for ad hoc sessions. The sessions must end at 1:45 p.m. so that the room can be prepared for the concurrent sessions. Those wishing to convene an ad-hoc session should contact mahoney@genetics-gsa.org by November 20, 2025 with the title, day they would like to hold the session, and the number of people expected to attend. The session information will be sent to the scientific organizers for final approval before being added to the schedule. Ad hoc organizers will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the session, including speaker presentations. The ad hoc session information must be received by January 6, 2026 to be included in the program book.

22nd International Aspergillus Meeting

There is a check box on the Fungal Genetics Conference abstract submission site to indicate that you would like the abstract to be considered for #Asperfest22 also. The abstract deadline is December 4, 2025.

If you wish to submit an abstract for #Asperfest22 that is NOT going to be presented at the Fungal Conference, please email your abstract(s) as a Word file attachment to mike.bromley@manchester.ac.uk. Include the names and affiliations of all authors. Underline the name of the presenting author. If you are a student and first and presenting author and would like to be considered for a student poster prize, please follow your name with an asterisk (*). The main body of your abstract must be less than 2,500 characters.

Two authors will share a 4’ high x 8’ wide poster board. The usable space for each author will measure 3’10” (111.8 cm) wide x 3’10” (111.8 cm) high. No materials for making posters will be available at the conference grounds. We encourage photos of the authors to be included on the posters.

4th Symposium on Zygosporic and Zoosporic Fungi

We aim to celebrate the diversity of the fungal kingdom by bringing together people from all biological fields with an interest in the non-dikarya fungal phyla (Mucoromycota, Glomeromycota, Chytridiomycota, Blastocladiomycota, and many others), the Zygosporic and Zoosporic Fungi (aka the ZygoZoo).  We are very much looking forward to a day of talks and lively discussions on all the new developments in this versatile group of fungi, encompassing all aspects of genetics, genomics, ecology, host-fungal interactions, endosymbiosis, antifungal drug resistance, physiology, and secondary metabolism.

Dothideomycetes Genetics Workshop

This workshop is for anyone working on the genetics, genomics or host-pathogen interactions of fungi in the class Dothideomycetes. Magnafest
