The 25th International Worm Meeting will be held at the University of California, Davis in Davis, California. The city is well known for its charming college-town feel and eco-friendliness, offering cultural, intellectual, and recreational activities for visitors of all ages, with varied interests. With over 399 acres of active parkland, more than 50 miles of bicycle paths, and more bicycles per capita than any other city in the nation, Davis is perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors. Those with a passion for the arts and learning about different cultures can view the work of local artists around downtown, or explore the city’s many galleries, museums, community-built Art Center, or Varsity Theatre. For those looking for some local Davis flavor, the famous Davis Farmers Market is a must. In addition to local produce, you can find gourmet foods, live entertainment, specialty products, and arts and crafts. Dubbed a “hidden gem for food enthusiasts,” Davis also offers a variety of cuisine options, guaranteed to appeal to all tastes.

Accomodations

Reservation Deadline: May 21, 2025

The UC, Davis housing site will be available by the end of February 2025.

Beware of unauthorized hotel solicitations. Please note that the hotels listed below are the only official conference hotels. The only way to make a reservation is by contacting the hotel directly through the reservation site or phone number listed below. While hotel resellers or others may contact you offering accommodations for your trip, they are not endorsed or affiliated with GSA, or the Conference.

Dormitory Housing

Double room occupancy is $365 per person and the limited number of single rooms is $437. The reservation link for dorm housing will be available by the end of February, 2025. Accommodation packages include 3 meals per day and a linen package. Guests are responsible for bringing their own toiletries (e.g. soap, shampoo, and toothpaste). Early arrivals and late departures are not available. The package plans cannot be adjusted.

Please be aware, most housing, both dormitory and hotels, are between .5 and 1.5 walking distance to the various meeting rooms and cafeterias. The University of CA, Davis campus is very flat. Time has been built into the schedule to accommodate walking between the venues. During the day, temperatures are typically in the low 90s. The Sacramento River Delta breeze usually cools overnight temperatures into the 60s.

Accommodations are available in the Cuarto Area of campus – Shasta HallTahoe Hall, and Yosemite Hall. Cuarto is one block from the northern edge of campus. The halls offer suite style living with 2 to 4 double occupancy rooms and 1 to 2 shared bathrooms. All suites are furnished, carpeted, and individually air-conditioned. The complex also includes televisions, study lounges, laundry facilities, and game areas. Private baths are not available in any of the residence halls/suites.

Roommate Assignments for Double Occupancy

If you are selecting double accommodations, you will be required to have a roommate identified in advance or be assigned one at random.

Check-In

Check in time is 11:00 a.m.

Check-Out

Check out time is 9:00 a.m. in order to allow time to prepare for new conference arrivals. A late fee will be assessed for guests failing to check out by the designated time. Guests are asked to turn off air conditioning & lights, lock their room doors, and return room keys/key card to the Conference Service Desk before checking out. Report any damages and pay for lost keys before or at time of check out. NOTE: Conference Housing is unable to store group luggage due to space constraints and liability reasons.

Guest Services Desk

Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. On-call staff is available from 11: 00 p.m.  to 7:00 a.m. at the Segundo Conference Service desk. Desk hours are subject to change and will be posted in the area. In addition to providing check in and checkout services, the desk staff will facilitate lockout assistance, fresh linens (linen exchange), and city/campus directory information.

Parking at the Residence Halls

Parking is not available at the residence halls. For those driving, the closest visitor parking lot is VP25. Visitor parking information can be found here.

Linen

The Linen package include sets that are folded and placed on the bed. They include 2 sheets, 2 towels, 1 washcloth, pillow, pillowcase, and blanket (no bedspread or comforter). Housekeeping for rooms is not available during your stay, but guests may exchange towels daily at the conference housing desk.  Guests are responsible for bringing their own toiletries (e.g. soap, shampoo, and toothpaste).

Cancellation Policy

The cancellation deadline is Friday, April 25. The cancellation fee is $50. Refunds will not be granted after the cancellation deadline. There are no exceptions to the cancellation policy. Please submit your cancellation request to events@ucdavis.edu.

Room Cancellation

For bookings made directly with the hotels, attendees can cancel an individual booking up until 48 hours prior without penalty. 

Meals

Meals are not included in the conference registration fee, but there are dining options on campus and in the surrounding area that can accommodate all dining preferences and budgets. Find additional information in the Attendee Resources page. For those staying in hotels, a lunch package is available for Sunday, June 29 through Tuesday, July 1 for $59. The lunch package can be purchased via the housing reservation link, which will be available by the end of February.

Breakfast will be served in the Cuarto Dining Commons. Lunch and Dinner will be served in the Tercero Dining Commons.The dining commons hours are as follows:

Breakfast:     7:00am – 8:30am

Lunch:           11:30am – 2:00pm

Dinner:          5:00pm – 7:00pm

Travel

Davis is served by two major airports:

  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO): This airport is approximately 90 miles (1.5 hours) from Davis, You can travel to Davis by rental car, train, bus or SuperShuttle.  
  • Sacramento Airport (SMF): This airport is approximately 20 miles (30 minutes) from Davis. Attendees can travel from the airport to Davis through Uber, Lyfty, the Davis Airporter (private airport shuttle service), SuperShuttle, or the Yolobus.

For travel within the city, attendees can use bikes, ride-share services, and public transport like Davis Community Transit, Unitrans, Yolobus. The City of Davis also has a variety of public transportation options listed on its website for travel within and outside Davis.
