As part of our mission, GSA helps scientists develop their skills and achieve their career goals. At #Dros25, there are programs and initiatives to provide experience, training, mentorship, and community for scientists of all career stages. Career Exploration Panel*
Friday, March 14, 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. PDT
This is a virtual event. This event will showcase the broad options available to those with a PhD by hosting a panel of individuals from multiple career paths. Career sectors highlighted may include academic research, industry research, biotech, science writing, science teaching, and academic administration.

Careers in Academia*
Friday, March 14, 1:00 p.m.–2:30 p.m. PDT
This is a virtual event. This 90-minute discussion panel will feature department heads and academic faculty who will discuss applying and hiring in academia from both sides of the process, as well as provide insight into an academic career.

Conference Success Tips and Welcome from the Early Career Leadership Program
Wednesday, March 19, 1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m. PDT

The purpose of this event is to help first-time conference attendees and early career scientists make the most of the conference. Topics covered may include introductions to organizers of the meeting, advice on having meaningful interactions in a virtual space, a chance to meet other attendees in an informal setting, and an introduction to scientific events and other conference programming

Getting Involved in GSA’s Early Career Professional Development
Wednesday, March 19, 2:30 p.m.–3:00 p.m. PDT

GSA Early Career Leadership Program (ECLP) members will join us in sharing how to get involved in GSA’s professional development programming for early career scientists. GSA will walk through upcoming events and programs including how and when to apply to join the ECLP.

Networking Hotspots

GSA will host themed discussion sessions on scientific, professional development, and community topics. Come join the conversations—all career stages are welcome. Tables and chairs will be provided.

Pre-registration is required for this GSA member benefit and early career scientists will be contacted in late January with additional information. Those who register for #Dros25 by January 21, 2025 will be given priority. You may visit the photographer’s booth during poster session hours to inquire if a spot is available.

Dros 2025 early career conference attendees will have the opportunity to have professional headshots taken during poster and exhibit sessions.
