About Fungal 2024

The Fungal Genetics Conference is the premier meeting for the international community of fungal geneticists. The conference features cutting-edge research spanning a diverse array of topics, including comparative and functional genomics, gene regulation, cell biology, biochemistry and metabolism, population and evolutionary genetics, host-pathogen interactions, genetics education, and more. In addition to the Perkins/Metzenberg Lecture, the 2024 meeting will feature talks and posters on equity and inclusion, attendee-organized workshops, and the ability to network and connect with other fungal geneticists.

Join us at Asilomar

We are delighted that the 32nd Fungal Genetics Conference will be held in person at the Asilomar Conference Grounds in beautiful Pacific Grove, California. This 107-acre protected coastal state park is located on the Monterey Peninsula. With miles of trails that lead you along the scenic coastline as well as through the park, it is the perfect environment in which to learn, share research, and meet with colleagues.

Invited Speakers

Keynote Address

N. Louise Glass
HHMI/Columbia University

N. Louise Glass is an Emeritus Professor in the Plant and Microbial Biology Department at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests include applying systems biology approaches to dissect nutrient signaling and plant cell wall deconstruction by fungi and defining molecular mechanisms associated with cooperative (cell/hyphal fusion) and antagonistic (allorecognition and fungal innate immunity) interactions between fungi. More recently, Glass has been involved in the development of functional genomics approaches for non-model fungi.

Awards

Poster Awards

Awards will be given for the best poster presentations by GSA undergraduate and graduate student members. Judges take both scientific merit and clarity of presentation into account. You must be a GSA student member and the first and presenting author on the abstract at the time of submission.

DeLill Nasser Award for Professional Development in Genetics

The DeLill Nasser Award supports geneticists in their graduate or postdoctoral career stages by funding participation in conferences and laboratory courses.

Thank you to our Sponsors!
