We welcome attendees from all over the world—the International Worm Meeting typically has registrants from over 30 countries.
If you are traveling to Japan from another country, you will need a passport and should verify whether you will also need to apply for a visa. If so, you should apply as early as possible—at least six months before your intended arrival. If you need a visa, we strongly encourage you to register as soon as possible for the conference to receive your letter of invitation, which is helpful and even required for some visa applications.
Citizens in 74 countries and regions do not need a visa for a short-term stay. A list of the countries can be found online.
Visitors to Japan with United States passports do not need visas for short-term visits. Please visit the US Embassy and Consulates in Japan website or the Department of State site to get up to date information.
Letters of invitation are available to those who submitted an abstract or registered for the conference. If you submitted an abstract, a link to your letter of invitation is located in your abstract submission portal. If you registered but did not submit an abstract, please contact gsaconferences@genetics-gsa.org to receive your letter. For security purposes, letters of invitation can only be sent to individuals that have registered or submitted an abstract for the meeting.
Be aware that many common medications and over-the-counter drugs in the United States are illegal in Japan, regardless of whether you have a valid prescription. Visit the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare for details.
