About the 23nd International
C. elegans Conference

The International C. elegans Conference takes place every two years and features cutting-edge research in a diverse array of topics, including physiology, neurobiology, development, evolution, behavior, aging, ecology, gene regulation, genomics, and more. For 2021, #Worm21 has been reimagined for a virtual platform and will focus on early career researchers at every stage.

Redesigned and reimagined with an early career focus

The Organizing Committee for the 23rd International C. elegans Conference is excited to remix the worm meeting for 2021 with an online format and a renewed focus on early career researchers. #Worm21 will look to the future, highlight the achievements of early career scientists, and provide excellent opportunities for those earlier in their career to share their work with the entire C. elegans research community.

Present to an international audience

There will be plenty of opportunities to present in oral presentation sessions and live, interactive poster sessions that prominently feature early career researchers. We’re expecting a large and highly engaged audience from across the globe. Joining the many researchers who usually attend the worm meeting, the virtual format will open up the event to those who would not normally be able to participate because of financial or travel challenges.

Connect with collaborators, mentors, and friends

As well as learning about the latest science, attending #Worm21 will help you build your network. The program will feature virtual discussion sessions, interactive workshops, and social events scheduled to accommodate multiple time zones. Make the most of our exciting new digital platforms that help recreate the synergy of an in-person meeting!

Organize a workshop

The Organizing Committee will consider applications for attendee-organized workshops on techniques, emerging topics, community resources, professional development, and other topics of general interest to the C. elegans community.

Applications are due February 16, 2021.

Genetics Society of America

The conference is hosted by the Genetics Society of America (GSA), an international community of biologists from all career stages and more than 50 countries. Join the GSA to receive registration and abstract submission discounts, plus access to professional development programs and a range of other member benefits for all career stages. You do not need to think of yourself as a geneticist to join—if you use genetic tools in your research, then you are one of us!

Virtual Platform

The conference will be held live and accessed using GSA’s custom Conference App. Talks will be presented via live video conference, and recordings of talks will be available to registrants for 30 days after the meeting. Live poster sessions will take place on an interactive video networking platform, and registrants can view poster files at any time during the conference. More details of the platforms and technical requirements will be available when registration opens.
