Larry Sandler Award
GSA presents the Larry Sandler Award to outstanding recent graduates who have completed a PhD in an area of Drosophila research. The award serves to honor Dr. Sandler for his many contributions to Drosophila genetics and his exceptional dedication to the training of Drosophila biologists. Applications are currently open. Nominations closed November 1, 2023.
Victoria Finnerty Undergraduate Travel Award
The Victoria Finnerty Undergraduate Travel Award supports travel costs for undergraduate GSA members who are engaged in research to attend the Annual Drosophila Research Conference. The award also includes presenting Drosophila research at TAGC 2024. Applications are now closed.
Please note that applicants should apply for the Victoria Finnerty Award using the same form as the GSA Undergraduate Travel Award.
Drosophila Image Award
The Drosophila Image Award was established in 2004 to recognize compelling images that communicate important findings in Drosophila research. Any image from a paper that has been accepted for publication in the calendar year preceding the Conference is eligible and can be submitted by the researcher who generated it. The Award is given to the most striking image and video that clearly convey an important biological result.

IMGS Scholarships for trainees (students or postdocs)
The International Mammalian Genome Society (IMGS) Scholarships support meeting costs for students and postdocs attending TAGC 2024. The scholarships are expected to cover at least the cost of registration and half a twin room (shared room with two beds) for five nights. The scholarship also covers the Mammalian Trainee Symposium and IMGS Members-Only Reception. Applications are due December 13, 2023.
The Mary Lyon Award
The Mary Lyon Award for early-stage independent female researchers (Assistant Professor or equivalent) will cover expenses for awardees to participate in an International Mammalian Genome Conference and give an oral presentation of their work. In 2024, the International Mammalian Genome Conference will be part of TAGC. Stay tuned for more details.
James F. Crow Early Career Researcher Award
GSA presents the James F. Crow Early Career Researcher Award to students and recent PhDs conducting PEQG research. This year’s winner will present their research in a high-profile session at TAGC.

Lee Hartwell Lecture
The Lee Hartwell Lecture is given by a noted researcher in the field who has used yeast in a way that has had an obvious impact on other fields.
Ira Herskowitz Award
The Ira Herskowitz Award is awarded for outstanding contributions in the field of yeast research in the last 20 years. This award is usually given to scientists under 50.
Winge-Lindegren Address
The Winge-Lindegren Address is a thought-provoking perspective, given by a leader in the field of yeast genetics.
YGM Lifetime Achievement Award
The YGM Lifetime Achievement Award is for lifetime contributions in the field of yeast genetics and outstanding community service.
Angelika Amon Award
The Angelika Amon Award will be presented to an outstanding recent PhD graduate. The award serves to honor Dr. Amon for her many discoveries through the use of yeast genetics, and her exceptional dedication to training and mentorship. The Awardee will present a 15-minute talk at a keynote during The Allied Genetics Conference 2024.
